Day 42 - Heybrook Bay to Mothecombe – 11 miles

Alas the diary for this day seems to have got lost somewhere along the way in all of the versions of this site that have existed over the years. The photos and map of the walk are not lost though so I post them here.

Day 47 - Blackpool Sands to Dartmouth - 5 miles

The weather forecast earlier in the week had been for pretty bad weather on the Saturday, but it had improved as Saturday had got nearer. We had planned a shorter day in case it was bad anyway, and we'd also decided that finishing in Dartmouth for this week's walking attempt would be a good idea. We had both had enough of the strenuous walking of this trip which had lots of cliff ups and downs. The weather wasn't too bad... certainly not as bad as it HAD been forecast earlier in the week. Day 32 - St Anthony Head to Carne Beach – 8 miles

The day dawned overcast again, though I had expected that as the weather yesterday had said that it would be cloudy and that the cloud and hill fog would struggle to clear all day in the north. As I sat in the car listening to the radio the forecast was a bit more optimistic if anything, and they did actually mention the possibilities of glimpses of sunshine developing through the day. I was ready to go by 9am this morning and set off up the driveway. I knew that the drive to today’s bike drop off and car drop was going to be longer than ever. I was going to have to drive right inland and north through Truro and out towards St Austell to get around the far side of the Falmouth Estuaries. I wished I'd not booked and paid for the four nights camping at Lower Dacum Farm really, because at least then I wouldn't have had to drive back all the way to the campsite to head all the way out there again in the morning. Travel down for Part Four and Day 18 - Porth Joke to Newquay - 3 miles

The forecast for the weekend I'd decided to go down for this year's continuation along the South West Coast Way route was not good! Grrr! The first job on waking up at home was to pack the rucksack. Because I was the most unprepared fitness wise that I'd ever been for a walking holiday, I tried to pack the bare minimum clothes wise. This year I would have to wash and wear as much as I could! I set off from home at about 10.30am, heading through Meriden to Solihull, where I joined the M42 and then the M5 all the way down to Exeter. From there I took the A30 westwards towards Newquay, where I'd finished the walk last year. I'd looked at the map before leaving, and on the way down and picked a campsite (Treago Farm) near Crantock, the other side of The Gannel from Newquay, further along the route than I'd actually managed to get last time.
