Day 42 - Heybrook Bay to Mothecombe – 11 miles

Alas the diary for this day seems to have got lost somewhere along the way in all of the versions of this site that have existed over the years. The photos and map of the walk are not lost though so I post them here.

Day 20 - St Agnes Head to Gwithian - 12 Miles

Of course, with going to sleep so early the night before, I woke up correspondingly early this morning! I managed to fall asleep again though and dozed on until about 7.40am, when I eventually decided to get up. I went to find the showers and toilets. They were nice and I had a HOT shower, washing out the pair of pants and socks that I'd worn up to this point and donning a new pair. I elected to keep the same T shirt on though as it wasn't too pongy!:) I returned to the tent. The main heavy rain of the night seemed to have ceased, but wind blasted drizzle came and went. I think I was beginning to get very jaded by wind on this holiday so far! The forecast that I'd heard yesterday, sitting in the car waiting for the rain to go over at Treago Farm had said that it would be wet early on today, but clearing to become blustery showers later on. Day 47 - Blackpool Sands to Dartmouth - 5 miles

The weather forecast earlier in the week had been for pretty bad weather on the Saturday, but it had improved as Saturday had got nearer. We had planned a shorter day in case it was bad anyway, and we'd also decided that finishing in Dartmouth for this week's walking attempt would be a good idea. We had both had enough of the strenuous walking of this trip which had lots of cliff ups and downs. The weather wasn't too bad... certainly not as bad as it HAD been forecast earlier in the week. As we were leaving the car at Blackpool Sands for today's walk we decided to go to our by now fairly regular breakfast spot... the cafe on the beach. I decided I would have a proper full english breakfast today...none of this veggie full english that I'd had before, as the vegan sausages had been so yucky. Steve went for an eggs benedict I think? Day 8 - Barnstaple to Westward Ho! - 11 Miles

I woke up with the people in the room next door. One problem with the B&B being the very sound transparent doors!!!! I decided to get up before the alarm anyway as I'd been asleep by 10.30pm the night before anyway!!! I had a shower and wrote the diary until breakfast time at 8.30am. It was a nice breakfast and so all in all it was a good B&B and highly recommended – especially for the price! I spent all my breakfast chinwagging to the landlady and her other guest – a retired teacher from London who was actually down in Barnstaple to scatter her mum's ashes somewhere or other!! Breakfast done, I went upstairs to pack my remaining stuff , and set off at about 9.15am. I stopped off at Iceland on the way up the High Street for prawn sarnies, a 2 litre bottle of pop, and some chargrilled steak and peppercorn sauce flavour crisps.
