Day 47 - Blackpool Sands to Dartmouth - 5 miles

The weather forecast earlier in the week had been for pretty bad weather on the Saturday, but it had improved as Saturday had got nearer. We had planned a shorter day in case it was bad anyway, and we'd also decided that finishing in Dartmouth for this week's walking attempt would be a good idea. We had both had enough of the strenuous walking of this trip which had lots of cliff ups and downs. The weather wasn't too bad... certainly not as bad as it HAD been forecast earlier in the week. As we were leaving the car at Blackpool Sands for today's walk we decided to go to our by now fairly regular breakfast spot... the cafe on the beach. I decided I would have a proper full english breakfast today...none of this veggie full english that I'd had before, as the vegan sausages had been so yucky. Steve went for an eggs benedict I think? Day 23 - Morvah to Land's End - 12 Miles

Portheras Cove as I walk down from Morvah Sand rocks and stream when I reach Portheras Cove Looking back across Portheras Cove with Gurnard Head from yesterday beyond. Lighthouse at the end of Pendeen New Cliff. Looking along Pendeen Old Cliff from Pendeen Watch with the chimneys of Levant Mine visible ahead. Looking back at the Lighthouse at the end of Pendeen New Cliff. Approaching the extensive ruins of Levant Mine. More ruins as the sea mist comes down for the day. A long walk through Levant Mine buildings. And then Botallack Mine. Not too far to Cape Cornwall.. not that I would know in all this fog! Looking down you can only just sea the white of crashing waves against rocks. Cape Cornwall. Views obscured by sea mist at this height above Priest's Cove.. Porth Nanven At lower heights a bit more can be seen. After the climb back out of Porth Nanven the views are again lost. Map of the day...

Day 25 - Lamorna Cove to St Michael's Mount/Marazion - 9 Miles

I was tired this morning and was up a bit later than the day before. I went for a shower just before 8am. I'd decided on the bike option again for the day, so put the rack and bike on the back of the car and set off. It was quite late – about 9.30am by the time I'd had some breakfast and written up the last of yesterday's diary. I drove to Marazion, already getting bored of the route to Helston, and out towards Penzance. I found a signpost / fence to chain the bike to, after asking the car park attendant if it was ok to park up just while I chained the bike. He seemed impressed at my day's plan! I set off again in the car, this time only as far as Lamorna Cove. At least the journeys would be getting smaller over the next few days! I parked up overlooking the harbour and paid my 5 quid all day parking charge!! I was tired as I set off up the rocky path out the far side of the cove.
